Jamaal Avery Jr has been tabbed to voice the lead role in the upcoming animated series, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. Avery was on hand to help make the announcement at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA before a large in-person crowd, and to millions watching the event’s Livestream broadcast.

The series centers on the adventures of multiple Jedi-to-be as they begin to learn the ways of the Force. Set during The High Republic era, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures follows a group of Younglings as they embark on missions and ultimately learn the valuable skills needed to become Jedi: compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship. Avery plays Kai Brightstar, a Jedi Youngling who hopes to follow in the footsteps of the great Master Yoda and become a Jedi Knight. He teams with pilot Nash Durango (Berman), on adventures across the galaxy.

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is produced by Lucasfilm for Disney Junior and Disney+, and executive-produced by Lucasfilm’s James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, and Josh Rimes. The show is written by Lamont Magee and directed by Elliot M. Bour.
